We are often asked why we chose green as our corporate color. Our CEO and founder, Jose Sandoval, was raised in Laguna Heights, Texas, near Port Isabel/South Padre Island. His family were traditionally shrimpers and as a young man, he and his family would often wait on the pier for their father to return from shrimping in the bay waters of the Laguna Madre. There are many shrimp boats based out of Port Isabel and they all looked very similar. Because of this, the family found it difficult to pick out the Sandoval shrimp boats as they worked the waters and returned to the dock at the end of the day. Each of the boats looked alike in the distance, and Jose’s father decided on a solution to this problem: mark the boat somehow.
Because money was tight, Jose’s father visited the nearest hardware store and purchased the cheapest paint he could find. It turns out, green paint was the most inexpensive way to go. He purchased the paint and added a distinguishing mark to the boat: a green stripe along the cabin windows. From then on, each night as the Sandoval family awaited the return or their patriarch from a day of shrimping on the bay, they would pick out the boat on the horizon. The whole family knew he was safely returning home from a long day at work, enabling the security of the family’s future. Throughout the years, green became a primary color of the boats and continues to be the main fleet color.
Years later, as Jose was striking out into his own business as Sandoval Technology Solutions, he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and chose the same green color that his father had used all those years ago.
Today, the green SandTech logo and colors reminds us to remain true to the Sandoval family heritage. When we see the SandTech colors, we’re reminded that they represent the trust & confidence our customers place in us to ensure their security and future–and provide a reminder that hard work pays off.
